We are delighted that Hazelhurst Court, an Extra Care development recently completed by Rydon for Phoenix Community Housing, has won a prized Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) London Award 2018.

The RIBA awards and prizes are regarded internationally as a mark of excellence, recognising the best architecture, architects, research and students.

Designed by architects Levitt Bernstein to provide 60 new homes for people aged 60 and above, the specially designed accommodation was created in the under occupied gardens of an existing sheltered housing scheme.

Featuring spacious communal facilities including a cafe, landscaped courtyard gardens and a TV suite, each of the apartments is dual aspect with external spaces overlooking both the outside street scene and internal courtyard spaces.

Hazelhurst Court is situated in a prominent area of Beckenham, with strong train links to London via the Overground Line with Beckenham Hill station a short walk away.

Homes are available for individuals and couples looking to live independently and who may require further help and assistance when they require it, with additional communal facilities open to both Extra Care residents and the local area, such as a fully catered canteen.
