Group signs another significant PFI

Led by Ryhurst, with the support of Rydon Construction and Rydon Property Maintenance, the Group has successfully signed contracts for the development of Newton Abbot Community Hospital in Devon.

This is a £24.3m PFI project on which we were selected preferred bidder in June last year. The building will consist of a 60-bed community hospital on a new site in the town’s Jetty Marsh, replacing an existing hospital’s Victorian and Edwardian buildings. Facilities at the new hospital will include a rehabilitation unit, a minor injury and illness centre, an out-of-hours service, a small maternity unit and a range of outpatient facilities.

Work is due to begin on site on 9 May. The bid manager for the project at Ryhurst was Mary Whittington who will now be passing over to Jon Pike for the construction phase. Contracts Manager at Rydon Construction is Roger Cullen, on Simon Moore’s team.
