Ryhurst takes top award for Newton Abbot hospital PFI

September 2007

At the inaugural Healthcare Deals of the Year awards, organised and promoted by leading health publication Health Investor, Ryhurst took first prize in the PFI category with the Newton Abbot hospital scheme for Devon Primary Care NHS Trust.

Competition was extremely strong and Ryhurst had to impress the 9-judge panel to beat fellow finalists, The St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust in partnership with Taylor Woodrow Construction and University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust in partnership with Balfour Beatty. Despite their greater size, neither of these schemes were able to match Ryhurst on the six key criteria set by the judging panel. These were:

  • Value added to the company/companies by the deal
  • Innovation
  • Coordination of the professional parties involved
  • Overcoming Obstacles
  • Establishing and achieving the end goal of the deal
  • Complexity of the deal

The award is testimony to the great experience of the Ryhurst team and their ability to put together a consortium that not only has the calibre and capacity to deliver the project but is able to work collaboratively and in the spirit of partnership.
